Registering with the surgery

To register with the surgery:

• register online
• visit reception, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and collect a paper registration form

You do not need to provide ID to register, unless you want access to online services.

It’s helpful to have your NHS number when you register — find your NHS number on the NHS website.

You’ll be offered a new patient check with one of our Healthcare Assistants.

If you need medication after moving to the area

Contact the surgery. It’s a good idea to ask your current GP for a month’s supply of medication before you register with us, so you don’t run out.

Temporary registration

If you are ill while away from home, you can contact the GP you are registered with and ask for a telephone consultation, or ask them to send a prescription to a pharmacy of your choice.

If you need to see a doctor face to face, a local GP practice can give you emergency treatment for 14 days. After that, you’ll need to register as a temporary or permanent patient. You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to 3 months.

Your named GP

Every patient, including children, is allocated a named GP who is responsible for coordinating your care. You do not need to see your named GP when you book an appointment — you can choose to see any GP or nurse at the practice.
